MASSAGE

WHAT TREATMENTS DO YOU HAVE AND WHAT ARE THEY LIKE?

Treatments last between 60–90 minutes. Your first sessions also involves an assessment of up to 30 minutes. This enables me to work out a strategy to suit your individual needs. Treatments can involve any combination of the following styles:

RELAXATION MASSAGE

Relaxation Massage is a structured method of soft-tissue manipulation designed to relax the body, support detoxification, improve tissue elasticity and tone, and reduce pain. A session usually begins with gentle palpation through a cotton covering to assess the body’s needs. From there, oil is applied and long, slow gliding strokes warm the muscles. Kneading movements follow, boosting circulation and helping the tissues soften. Targeted frictions may be used to free areas where connective tissue has become restricted, limiting comfortable movement. The session often finishes with light percussive techniques (known as tapotement), which help stimulate the immune system and encourage the clearing of toxins and old scar tissue through the lymphatic system. These wastes then re-enter general circulation to be processed naturally by the liver and kidneys.

THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE

Therapeutic massage is a more targeted approach than Swedish Massage, designed for people experiencing pain, stiffness, mild swelling, or general discomfort in the body. The techniques used aim to address these issues directly and help restore normal, comfortable function. This style of massage can be highly effective for treating physical pain, supporting the body through pregnancy-related changes, and easing aches that come from overuse, long work hours, poor posture, or limited movement and exercise.

REMEDIAL MASSAGE

A remedial massage from a qualified male therapist offers targeted relief for muscle tension, pain, restricted movement and stress-related tightness. Using firm, precise techniques, remedial massage helps improve circulation, reduce inflammation, release knots, support injury recovery and restore natural mobility. Many clients appreciate the grounded, steady pressure a male therapist can provide, helping deeper layers of muscle unwind safely and effectively. Sessions are tailored to your body’s needs, blending assessment, hands-on treatment and supportive guidance so you leave feeling lighter, more mobile and deeply at ease. Regular remedial massage can also improve posture, prevent future strain and enhance overall wellbeing — making it a powerful choice for people seeking therapeutic results and long-term body balance.

SPORTS MASSAGE

Sports massage is ideal for active people in Cairns who want to improve performance, prevent injuries and recover more quickly from training or physically demanding work. This style of massage uses targeted techniques to warm the muscles, increase circulation, release tight fascia, improve flexibility and reduce post-exercise soreness. I’m trained in both PRE-EVENT and POST-EVENT sports massage, helping you maximise performance during competition and speed up recovery afterwards so you can return to training feeling strong and ready. Whether you’re a triathlete, runner, gym-goer, swimmer, cyclist, hiker, dancer or someone who simply pushes their body hard, sports massage supports balanced muscle function and long-term mobility. Many clients appreciate the steady, focused pressure I bring to the session, allowing deeper layers of tension to release safely and effectively. Each treatment is tailored to your body’s unique patterns, helping you move more freely, breathe more easily and feel stronger in everything you do. Regular sports massage can enhance athletic performance, reduce the risk of strain and keep you active, supple and pain-free in Cairns’ tropical lifestyle.

HAWAIIAN MASSAGE

I offer a blended style of Hawaiian bodywork that draws from both Lomi Lomi and Kahuna traditions. This approach uses long, flowing, wave-like strokes delivered with the hands, forearms and elbows to soften deep tension, open the body and quiet the mind. There is also a unique underbody component, where the arms glide beneath you to create a feeling of being gently embraced and fully enveloped in warm, soothing oils. When received from a male therapist, many clients appreciate the grounded, steady pressure and the sense of safety and support it brings. Traditional Hawaiian music plays softly in the background, guiding the rhythm of the session as I move around the table in hypnotic, dance-like patterns. The result is a deeply nurturing, meditative experience that helps release physical tightness, calm emotional stress and leave you feeling centred, open and restored.

AROMATHERAPY ACUPRESSURE MASSAGE

Aromatherapy Acupressure Massage is a unique style I created from my love of essential oils and my training in aromatherapy and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Each session begins with a personalised essential oil blend chosen specifically for your needs, drawing on the therapeutic power of plant medicines to support your physical, emotional and energetic wellbeing. I combine this with targeted acupressure, gentle cupping, moxa, guasha (skin scraping) and specific muscle and joint manipulation techniques to move stagnant chi, free restricted tissues, and restore balance throughout the meridian system. The essential oils work in concert with these TCM methods, enhancing their therapeutic potency and creating a deeply layered, restorative experience. Clients often describe this style as grounding, clearing and rejuvenating — a warm, aromatic treatment that helps the body unwind, the mind settle and the whole system return to a more harmonious state.

AROMATHERAPY relaxes and detoxifies your mind and body. Plants have been used for their therapeutic properties for centuries. Their pleasant essential oils are effective in treating a wide range of health problems. Application is usually via a massage oil blend or sometimes a vaporiser is used to diffuse your special blend in the air for you to inhale during the session.

  • ensures I can reserve the time and prepare the space for your session

  • protects against short-notice cancellations.

HOLD WITHOUT DEPOSIT

If you’re unable to pay the deposit immediately, I can hold your preferred time for up to 24 hours. Unconfirmed appointments are released after this period.

WHY IS THERE A DEPOSIT?

My work is highly personalised and appointment times are limited. Most clients appreciate that the deposit is not an extra charge — it simply reserves a space that’s dedicated entirely to their session. After more than 20 years of providing therapeutic services, I’ve found that clients who are ready to commit have no concerns with the deposit. It helps us both honour the appointment and ensures I can prepare to offer you the best possible experience. It also allows me to offer a high-quality, professional service while respecting the time and commitment of both myself and my clients. Your understanding and cooperation are genuinely appreciated.

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Perth, Western Australia. I first became interested in natural therapy as a child. My nanna was involved in a car accident when I was about eight years old. She hurt her legs and was in a lot of pain. I used to help her by massaging her legs, something dad showed me how to do. I also used to help him with his ‘bad back’ with massage and heat packs. Both my sisters were hairdressers and soon showed me how to give head massages. That became a kind of currency in our house, that is, ‘‘you do the washing up for me, and I’ll give you a head massage.’’

Fast forward to my uni days, when I met Dawn Bruggen, a Reiki Master, who offered to train me in the art of Reiki in return for my sound recording skills. I went on to study the first two levels of Reiki with her in 1992 and 1993.

From the mid-1990s to July 2020, I worked in Canberra as a natural therapist. I moved my main practice, mid-pandemic, to the Cairns/Port Douglas area in Far North Queensland.

I treat a wide range of common physical problems, such as soft tissue injuries, digestive problems, muscle aches, painful joints and post-operative scars. I also have success treating various mental and emotional problems, such as trauma and stress-induced anxiety, relationship problems, depression, sleep disorders, phobias, lack of motivation and emotional/mental fatigue.

My qualifications include BA (English), Diploma in Health Sciences (Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies), Diploma Hatha Yoga, Certificate in Tantric Yoga, Certificate in Massage Therapy, Reiki Master Level 3, and Advanced Theta Healing. Diploma of Music, and Sound Therapy.

PLEASE NOTE I am located in White Rock, a suburb of Cairns, Queensland.
